Today at Mobile 2.0, Ronan Cremin, of .mobi let the cat out of the bag on a project I’ve been working on for some time, the .mobi Mobile Web Developers Guide, written my myself with some help from the folks at Blue Flavor.
The guide will be available as a free PDF at the upcoming .mobi developer site, it will cover the best practices and recommended techniques for mobile web design and development.
The guide covers:
- What you need to know about the mobile ecosystem.
- How to build a mobile web strategy.
- Best practices for building a mobile information architecture.
- What you need to know about mobile web design.
- Background of the mobile web standards as well as what the “web standards” developer needs to know.
- Explanation of mobile web development techniques as well as a crib sheet to development.
- The variety of mobile web publishing methods available.
- Tutorials, tips and tricks on how to get started in the mobile web.
- Explain acronyms and jargon common to the mobile industry.
It will cover many of the high-level topics from my Designing for Mobile workshop but dive far deeper into the mobile web, getting into samples and techniques.
In addition to the free PDF, there are plans to make available a free web-based version which will be updated and added to throughout 2007.
Stay tuned for the .mobi Mobile Web Developers Guide to make its debut later this month.
