One of the greatest things about working at Blue Flavor is that we have great bosses who let the team work from home on Fridays.
Working from home gives me separation—a space away from standard office interruptions—so I’m usually much more inclined toward creative work. I come up with better ideas and feel calmer overall about the creative process. I also use my alone time to think and write up blog posts, since an office environment isn’t always conducive to the kind of concentration writing requires.
Allowing your employees to work from home would certainly not work for every company, but for agile agencies like ours—where email, IM, and Backpack Journal keep us connected even while apart—it can be a great way to reset at the end of each week.
Giving employees a little trust and space strikes me as a sensible, humane way of doing business, and I highly recommend it.

Totally agree with that one! Too many employers retain this antiquated view that ‘face time’ means productive time.
In this day and age, I can get more done at home in less time. Then, come Monday you are keen to get back to the office for a bit of social interaction :-)
Wow, that’s great. It’s always a pleasure to see a company give their employees that much flexibility when it comes to work. You can technically make your workspace anywhere as long as the work required is delivered. Lucky you guys!
That is awesome; I’ve always sort of thought the idea of the four-day work week was itself weak.
I think if you can have the luxury of hiring great talent that does great things — then you just create a working environment where those people can flourish. Whether it be playing video games during the day, taking long lunches or working from home on Fridays.
If my bosses would employee the same mentality I would be a lot happier. On the odd days (very few and very far between) when I have managed to wangle some time at home to work I’ve found it to be much more relaxing, focussed and productive.
